WELLINGTON. A Florida surgeon removed the healthy kidney of a woman who had undergone surgery on her back. He believed that the vital organ was cancerous.
The Palm Beach Post reported last Wednesday that Maureen Pacheco was suing Ramon Vasquez, as well as two other surgeons, for negligence. Vasquez performed the autopsy of Pacheco in 2016 so that Dr. John Britt (or Dr. Jeffrey Coogler) could do back surgery.
Donald J. Pacheco, Pacheco’s attorney. Ward claims she was not involved in the removal. In September, the suit was settled. Mark Mittelmark, Vasquez’s lawyer claims that the Wellington Regional Medical Center failed to inform his client Pacheco had a urinary tract infection.
